Embroidery Beyond the Basics - 3D Lettering
Take your embroidery skills to new dimensions—literally! In this Embroidery: Beyond the Basics class, you’ll learn how to create stunning 3D puffed-up lettering using foam. This technique is commonly seen on sweatshirts, caps, and other custom designs, giving your embroidery a bold, professional look.
With step-by-step instruction, you'll explore how to stitch over foam to create raised, eye-catching letters. To make it easy, we’ll provide pre-digitized designs featuring MOM, MAMA, DAD, and LOVE for you to stitch out and bring to life.
Supplies:
- 5" x 7" or larger hoop with plastic grid
- Medium-weight cutaway stabilizer (such as No Show)
- Foam to fit the hoop (provided in class)
- Temporary adhesive spray
- 1" wide painter's tape
- Tweezers
- Small to medium sharp scissors (must cut well to the tip)
- T-shirt or sweatshirt (fabric must have some stretch)
- Thread and bobbin (matching or contrasting with the shirt color)
- General sewing supplies (markers, straight pins, seam ripper)
