Beginning Binding Class
Binding Basics: Magic & Self Binding Made Easy
Take your quilting and sewing projects to the next level with this hands-on class focused on two popular finishing techniques: Magic Binding (also known as Flange Binding) and Self Binding. You’ll learn how to create and apply Magic Binding, a two-tone binding method that adds a professional, decorative touch to your edges with minimal fuss. You’ll also discover how to do Self Binding—an easy and clean finish that uses the backing fabric to bind your project.
Supply List:
- Sewing Machine (bring a walking foot and stitch-in-the-ditch foot if you have them)
- 1/4” Foot (optional but helpful; a standard foot will also work)
- Quilted Square: One 15” x 15” block
- Binding Strips:
- (2) Strip A – 1 1/4” wide x Width of Fabric (WOF) (for binding)
- (2) Strip B – 1 3/4” wide x WOF (for flange)
- Thread & Bobbins to match your fabric
- Basic Sewing Supplies:
- Straight pins or plastic clips
- Scissors
- Seam ripper
- Marking pencil
